The Port of Kalundborg has a total of approximately 1 million square metres of port area and approximately 4 kilometres of quays.
The Port is divided into two main areas: the Inner Port and the newer Outer Port.
The Outer Port
Deep-water berth for the big ones
The Outer Port, previously called New West Port, is approximately 330,000 square metres. The port area has a 500-metre-long deep-water quay with a water depth of 15 metres, and a 50-metre-wide quay street, which provides ample space for efficient cargo handling.
The Outer Port is home to the port's container terminal, operated by APM Terminals, as well as the Kalundborg Logistics Centre, operated by Schultz Shipping Group.
In addition, the border control building with the Danish Customs and Veterinary Authority is also located in the Outer Port. Customs and veterinary controls are carried out here in connection with the container terminal. Read more about our facilities for customs, food and veterinary border control here.
In the Outer Port, the Port of Kalundborg has two electrically powered multipurpose mobile cranes with lifting capacities of 150 tonnes and 100 tonnes respectively, which can switch between container yokes, grabs for bulk, and pure hook operation for project and heavy lift goods. Read more about our cranes here.
We also expect activities within CO2 management in the port area in the future.
The Outer Port is particularly suitable for handling larger vessels and ship cargoes. In addition to the currently available vacant areas, there is also the possibility of further expansion of the port area in the future.
The Inner Port
Flexible berths for everyone
The Inner Port covers approximately 800,000 square metres and consists of several multifunctional quays with water depths of up to 12 metres and space for ships up to 285 metres in length.
All types of cargo are handled here: dry bulk, liquid bulk, general cargo, project cargo, ro/ro, etc.
In the Inner Port, the Port of Kalundborg has two portal cranes (Århus cranes) and a Sennebogen crane that are particularly suitable for bulk operations. However, the cranes can also operate with pure hook operation if necessary. Read more about our cranes here.
The port area is home to companies such as NOV Flexibles, Kalundborg Bulk Terminal, Kalundborg Tank Terminal, Avista Green, JD Contractors and others.
Most of the space is rented, but there are still a few vacant areas.
However, it is always possible to offer temporary storage in connection with the loading and unloading of ships.

Why choose Kalundborg?
Kalundborg Port is located at the bottom of Kalundborg Fjord with a natural depth and a shipping channel of 15 metres.
The port is centrally located in Denmark and directly adjacent to the T-route — the deep-water route connecting the Baltic Sea with the rest of the world — making it a good starting point for an efficient supply chain. In addition, all port areas are approved for road train transport (3 TEU), providing unique and efficient overland transport options to and from the port. The location in Zealand also offers easy access to the road network and a sizeable industrial catchment area.
Combined with modern facilities, a flexible and adaptable organisation, and a business-friendly municipality, this makes the Port of Kalundborg an attractive choice for companies seeking a location near the port.
