Efficient container handling, 100 % electrified cranes and record-high CMPH: Kalundborg sets new standards for mobile crane operations in May.
Efficient container handling, 100 % electrified cranes and record-high CMPH: Kalundborg sets new standards for mobile crane operations in May.
A new record has been set at the Port of Kalundborg container terminal. In May, APM Terminals, which operates the container terminal, achieved the highest productivity among all of APM Terminals' global locations that use mobile cranes.
The May record is an average of 18.6 container moves per hour (CMPH): A record that places Kalundborg right at the front – and sends a strong signal about what targeted cooperation and local support can lead to.
The record is the result of close and effective cooperation between the Port of Kalundborg and APM Terminals Kalundborg. Together, we ensure a high operating standard, efficient ship forwarding and a stable framework for the growing container traffic through the terminal, so that goods can get quickly, efficiently and safely from ship to quay and from quay to customer.
The record coincides with another important milestone: the electrification of the terminal’s two mobile container cranes, Gottwald 100 and Gottwald 150. They now run entirely on electricity instead of diesel. The electrification is part of the Green Zealand Gateway – the joint project between the Port of Kalundborg and APM Terminals, which will ensure that Kalundborg becomes home to one of the world’s first CO₂-neutral container terminals.
The high efficiency, combined with green operations, shows the potential of the long-term collaboration and strengthens Kalundborg's position as a modern and competitive port with international reach.
Congratulations to all those who contributed to this great record! We look forward to continuing this strong partnership where sustainability, innovation and competitiveness go hand in hand.
