Cruise in Kalundborg
– one port, many destinations

Welcome to Cruise Kalundborg

Experience authenticity, hospitality and genuine warmth. Here you are not a tourist, but our guest. Enjoy the beautiful medieval town with a concert in the Church of Our Lady, a visit to the museum and the art exhibition in the bishop's palace. Shop in the shops on the pedestrian street, have lunch with a view or experience the breathtaking nature on the Røsnæs peninsula.

From here, your guests can experience both landscape and culture without becoming part of the tourist crowds. Kalundborg offers nature, presence and a glimpse of the real Denmark – with local players and high quality in both experience and logistics.

We have been a cruise destination since 2004 and have welcomed everything from small expedition ships to the world's largest cruise ships. And we are ready to welcome many more.

Central location for cruises in the Baltic Sea

Kalundborg is located 100 km from the center of Copenhagen. It is located on the west coast of Zealand, right next to the Baltic Sea motorway, Route Tango, which connects the Baltics with the rest of the world's ports. Kalundborg is suitable for both transit and turnaround calls, so whether guests are going to the airport or want to experience Denmark's tourist attractions, they can access it all from here.

The passage through Kalundborg Fjord is very scenic. You sail between the two peninsulas of Røsnæs and Asnæs – on both sides you can enjoy beautiful landscapes with protected nature and the five-towered church on the Røsnæs side, while you have the Great Belt Bridge in the background on the Asnæs side.

Three quick words about Cruise Kalundborg

1) We have been a cruise destination since 2004 and have welcomed more than 80 calls – with everything from small ships with 50 passengers to some of the world's largest with over 5,600 guests on board.

2) We receive both transit and turnaround calls and collaborate with both local and national players to tailor each cruise call.

3) Deep-draft ships already pass Kalundborg Fjord, which is located 9 nautical miles from the T-route, the highway of the sea to the Baltic Sea. By calling here you save sailing time and CO2, while also gaining access to all of Zealand, Copenhagen and Odense.

"Here, cruise guests can either get their pulse racing or completely slow down."

Is your cruise going to the Baltics? Do a stay out of it when you pass Kalundborg – either on your way in or out of the Baltic Sea

Therefore Kalundborg

A more sustainable and time-saving alternative.

Ships with a draft of more than 7.7 meters cannot pass through Drogden south of Copenhagen. Large cruise ships must therefore go north of Zealand to enter the Baltic Sea. This means more nautical miles, more sailing time and more emissions.

By choosing Kalundborg as your cruise destination, you save time on sailing and protect the environment from unnecessary emissions - without compromising on either experiences or facilities.

Advantages of choosing Kalundborg:

Our cruise piers

The old cruise pier is ideal for smaller cruise ships. Piers 5-6 can be used in continuation of each other or individually.

If you add here, you get:

  • 330 meters of quay
  • 10 meters water depth
  • 1 km to the city center

The new cruise pier is ideal for large cruise ships. Pier 18 is located in the Outer Harbor.

If you add here, you get:

  • 500 meters quay
  • 15 meters water depth
  • 6 km to the city center

The nature-rich holiday

Discover the secrets behind the unique nature at Røsnæs

The Røsnæs peninsula is the westernmost point of Zealand and a unique natural area shaped by the forces of the ice age. Here you will experience rare natural experiences that offer steep slopes, quiet pebble beaches and lush landscapes.

The raw beauty of nature merges with unique biodiversity. Whether you seek peace or activity, Røsnæs is a natural gem waiting for you.

On clear days you can see as far as Samsø, Sejerø, Funen and Jutland. Røsnæs is also among Denmark's sunniest areas and home to rare plants and animals that thrive in the dry and sunny climate. An experience for both nature lovers and curious guests.

The active holiday

A holiday with a pulse and perspective that can be felt in the legs, body and memory

Kalundborg and West Zealand are made for the active holidaymaker. Here you can hike through the hilly ice age landscape at Røsnæs and be rewarded with views of the Great Belt on both sides of the coast.

Go on a bike ride and watch Zealand whizz past from the pull of your iron horse and enjoy the magnificent landscapes. Try your hand at climbing courses and heights at Kragerup Gods' activity park or swing your golf clubs at Kalundborg Golf Club.

If you can't get enough of the sea air, try kayaking, stand up paddleboarding or kitesurfing at Nyby Strand. The water in Denmark is on the cool side, but luckily you can get the heat right to sauna. So just find your inner Viking and jump in.

The cultural holiday

Denmark is full of cultural gems – and from Kalundborg it is never far to the next one. Explore old churches and medieval houses, visit the Viking castle of Trelleborg or explore castle parks and manor houses with centuries of history in the walls. See art exhibitions in the green, go to the flea market in the village or join the town festival.

Take a tour of local vineyards and experience the production first-hand. Taste world-class Danish wine or follow the recommendations of the Michelin Guide.

With only 1.5 hours to Odense and Copenhagen, you can also visit Hans Christian Andersen's House or see The Little Mermaid.

The family-friendly holiday

Adventure for the whole family

Kalundborg and the surrounding area offer experiences where children and adults can be curious together. Take the kids to Trelleborg or the Viking Ship Museum, and try your hand at Viking life, sword fighting and archery. Challenge yourself on the climbing course, play a game of football golf in the activity park at Kragerup Gods – or find peace with a picnic among grazing sheep at Røsnæs Nature School & Camp School.

Here there is room for play, learning and slow time together. All in the West Zealand landscape, where nature and history meet at a child-friendly level.
