Two Maersk Line ships are berthed at APM Terminals' container terminal at Kalundborg Port's Ny Vesthavn on Friday. This is the first time this has happened in the container terminal's one-year history.
At the same time, the Port of Kalundborg and APM Terminals have set a new record for the number of containers unloaded and loaded, with a total of over 3,000 TEU (standard 20-foot containers) being unloaded and loaded on the two ships. This breaks the Port of Kalundborg's own previous record of 2,903 TEU, which was set at Easter.
A total of nine crane operators are involved in the operation, with all three of Kalundborg Port's cranes naturally in operation. In addition, a number of dedicated employees at APM Terminals are also involved, taking care of all the work on land.
The two ships are the 200-meter-long Vuoksi Maersk and the equally long Vaga Maersk.
